Don't pay for your checkbook!
So … my checkbook ran out of checks and I’ve been bumming them off of my husband. We have a joint account but I still like my very own checkbook. Does it annoy anyone else that you have to pay $10 for your new checkbook? A technique suggested by a friend.
1) Call up your bank
2) Ask them if have any discounts on the checkbooks or any promotions going on.
They’ll be pretty accommodating and hook you up with your checkbook.
So there. Free checkbook! Try it out and let us know if it works! Why pay for it? Just treat yourself to a few lattes instead.
Chase sucks! On the first call, they transferred me to the “checks department”, which I found out is not even Chase. The “checks department” is the actual company that prints the checks—so of course they weren’t any help. So I called Chase back again, and complained about the transfer…..and then asked again about any discounts or promotions; the agent puts me on hold for about 5 minutes then came back only to tell me that there are none and to check at my nearest branch. Lets see how that’ll pan out.
